About
I was born and raised in Vietnam for 13 years. I speak and write fluently in both English and Vietnamese. My family came to the United State 8 years ago by fate. My dad was a contract worker for a Japanese's company on Samoan island. He was supposed to go back to Vietnam after 4 years but on the 3rd year the company was corrupted, they abused their employees. They hired gang members for an assault on the employees. Some of the employees lost their hands, eyes and some were seriously injured. Luckily the government of the United State of America came into the picture and i became an immigrant.
I was a poor village boy and suddenly i was allow to go to America, it was a dream come true for my family and myself. But such sudden change gave me a shock. I had to leave everything that is precious to me and go to the land of the "strangers". I didn't know a word of English back then, it was very difficult for me, i struggled through the first half year in middle school, then high school came. However, after 3 years i was able to fit in academically with all the kid who were born here in the United State.
When i was a freshmen in high school i joined the swimming team. Even though i didn't know how to swim i received the "future coach" award at the end of the season that year. I also played badminton when i was in high school, i made the varsity team as well and i was a playing single number one position. I graduated high school like many other kid but i didn't know what i wanted to be, where i wanted to go, i was lost. So i went to a community college leaving my major "blank".
I found out about Parkour a year ago when i was trying to look for my identiy. I was a curious kid, when i see a wall i want to run up to it, when i see a rail i want to climb on it and people call me "weirdo". I was curious about myself and where i belong, I felt left out from the ordinary world. I felt like i was a "freak". When i found out about parkour i was amaze at what human bodies are capable of and the first moment i found parkour i was sure i found my identity.
I've been training Parkour for a 1 year and 3 months now. It became part of my life. I do parkour every day whether it is rain or shine, whether it is hot or cool. Some of the other activities that i do? Other than parkour, school and work i'm also a Vietnamese teacher at a Most Holy Trinity (a local church in San Jose where i live, i'm a Catholic) i enjoy teaching and i want to do the same with Parkour. I love to share my experiences and knowledge with others. Through parkour i found the meaning of life, the meaning of what it is to live as a human being. The meaning of what it is like to struggle. The meaning of what it is to fall, what it is to stand up and walk again and the meaing of "never give up".
